How strict is Iberia with carry-on size? ›

The allowance permitted will vary depending on the class you are travelling in, the origin and destination. In general, the piece of hand luggage admitted on board cannot exceed 56cm x 40cm x 25cm.. The maximum weight is 10kg for Economy class and 14kg for Business class.

For most airlines, the largest luggage size for check-in is 62 linear inches. This means the total length + width + depth must equal 62 inches or less. RELATED: Our luggage size guide takes the guesswork out of measuring your bags before you get on the plane.

Cabin baggage size: You must be able to stow your carry-on luggage beneath the seat or in the overhead bin. It can't be more than 24"H, 16"W, and 10"D "D and no more than 35 pounds (with handles, wheels, and straps). Large backpacks, duffel bags, and tiny suitcases/wheeled luggage are the most common.

Though you might find an inch or two of a difference with various airlines, the standard domestic carry-on luggage size is 22" x 14" x 9", which includes the handle and the wheels. This size limit ensures your bag — and ideally everyone else's — will be able to be stored safely in the overhead bin for your flight.

Carry-on bags are limited to 22 inches long, 14 inches wide and 9 inches high including wheels and handles. All three measurements shouldn't add up to more than 45 inches.

Items that do not fit into the sizing device at the airport or exceed the carry-on allowance will be placed in checked baggage for a fee. Your carry-on must fit in the overhead bin and personal items need to fit under the seat in front of you.

You must adhere strictly to the baggage allowance on your booking. If your small bag or 10kg cabin bag does not fit in the baggage sizers, which are placed at every boarding gate, we will tag your bag and place it in the aircraft hold subject to payment of a gate bag fee.

According to airline policy, any personal items stowed beneath seats should not exceed 18 inches by 14 inches by 8 inches.

Most domestic airlines specify 22 inches by 14 inches by 9 inches as the maximum size for carry-on baggage. There are some exceptions as listed below in our airline specific summary. Maximum dimensions include the wheels and the handles of your bag, so factor those into your measurements when assessing your bag.

Is 24 inch luggage a cabin size? ›

Can a 24 inch luggage be a carry on? Unfortunately no, the standard carry-on size is typically 22” x 14” x 9”, so a 24 inch bag is too large to bring on board of most economy standard airlines.

To calculate the size of your carry-on bag, measure the length, height, and depth (or width) of your bag. You can add the three numbers together to find the total linear inches. For example, a bag with a length of 20 inches, width of 12 inches, and depth of 6 inches would be 20+12+6 = 38 linear inches.

Many international airlines don't have exact size restrictions for personal items. But the most common size limit is 40 inches (102cm) (length, plus width, plus height) or 18 x 14 x 8in (46 x 36 x 20cm).

Carry-on Luggage Size Matters

Generally, most of the European airlines limit carry-on luggage to a maximum size of 55 x 40 x 20 cm ( 21.6 x 15.7 x 7.8 in); however, a few airlines do accept bags up to 25 cm wide (9.84 inc) or do not accept more than 35cm tall (13.7 in).
