Good news, first. The Chiefs got back in the win column with a 31-13 decision over Washington and allowed a season-low 276 yards. That’s a great sign after Kansas City had consistently been one of the league’s worst defensive teams. But it wasn’t all good. Sure,Patrick Mahomesthrew for 397 yards. But the turnover problems continued as Washington intercepted twice, andMecole Hardmanlost a fumble. Kansas City is up to 14 giveaways in just the last five weeks. The Chiefs get two more chances, including this week at Tennessee, to fix the turnover issues before going up against several formidable defenses in the second half. Kansas City is favored again on Sunday, opening -4.5 against the Titans.

So maybe Derrick Henry can be a one-person team after all? Last week, I said giving him the ball30times wasn’t a great offensive game plan for Buffalo. Well, he had20carries for 143 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 3:05 remaining in the Titans’ 34-31 win over the Bills. Tennessee’s defense deserves a lot of credit here. While it did give up 417 yards, it also made timely plays with none bigger than a fourth-down stop of Josh Allen at the Titans’ 3 with 12 ticks to play. This was the type of performance a team could rally behind, and the timing could not be better. Tennessee’s next four opponents all made the playoffs last year.

Kansas City Chiefs news

Mahomes is one of just two quarterbacks to throw at least two touchdown passes in every game (Joe Burrow). He leads the NFL with 18 scoring throws and had his 29th-career 300-yard passing game in Week 6, tied for the most by a player in his first five seasons. Travis Kelce leads all tight ends with 38 catches and is tied with Baltimore’s Mark Andrews for the lead among tight ends with 468 receiving yards. Receiver Tyreek Hill is tied for the NFL lead in receptions with 46. Running back Darrel Williams posted a season-high 89 yards from scrimmage and rushed for two touchdowns. The Chiefs have allowed 410.5 yards per game, fifth-most in the NFL. They’ve given up 5.15 rushing yards per attempt, and now they face Derrick Henry.

Tennessee Titans news

Henry leads the NFL with 783 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. He is just the third player ever to tally at least 750 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns through six games. He’s been a scoring machine with six touchdowns in his last two games. His outstanding play help steady the Titans, who got receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Brown back in Week 6 after the two missed some time with injuries.
