SummaryThe General Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions for the company.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies.
Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
Summarizes financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
Assists with external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors.
Assists with processing vendor invoices through the AP cycle.
Other duties may be assigned.
This role will be based out of our office located in Troy, MI. Training will be conducted in-person during the first several months. There is potential for occasional remote workdays, subject to manager discretion, although this is not guaranteed.

Education And/or ExperienceBachelors of Science in Accounting from an accredited university. At least two years of experience in accounting preferred.
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and of Statutory accounting principles.
Strong analytical and accounting skills with ability to sort detail information amidst large quantities of data.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks that have no previous Track record as to how to accomplish.
The individual will be expected to work with moderate guidance and take ownership of his / her work product. The individual will work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company.
Computer Skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting – Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.
