What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic andproactive Home School Link Worker to join our fantastic staff team. We haverecently established this new role within our inclusion team, working closelywith the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and other school staff to furtherdevelop the important relationship between home and school. The main purpose ofthe role is to promote improved attendance, behaviour and engagement withlearning for children by providing support to them and their families, developingstrong links between the school, families and other agencies.

- Are you a great communicator who can connectwith children, parents and carers to provide advice and support which willpromote positive outcomes for children?

The term-time role is for 39 weeks a yearworking 32.5 hours a week. The core hours are 8:30am to3:30pm Monday to Friday, with 30 minutes for lunch. Some flexibility toadapt these hours to suit the needs of our families, such as providingparenting advice after school, would be helpful.
The role will focus on providing support tochildren and their families, developing strong links between the school,families and other agencies. The successful candidate will also improve theeducational opportunities and future life chances of children through promotingpositive attitudes and strong relationships.
The role is likely to include:
- promoting children’s engagement in learning
- delivering interventions to support children’swellbeing
- promoting good attendance for children, supportingthem and working collaboratively with their parents/carers to overcome barriersto attendance
- supporting children through transition periods
- promoting good physical and mental health forchildren
- delivering Back to Basics support for familieswww.hants.gov.uk/socialcareandhealth/childrenandfamilies/back-to-basics
- advising parents/carers about setting uppositive routines and boundaries for their children
- signposting and referring families to outsideagencies to support with specific areas of need e.g. sleep and eating
- delivering evidence-based parenting courses tosupport small groups of parents
- providing advice and guidance to parents onsupporting their children’s learning at home and completing homework and homelearning projects
