The 50 best pubs in Medellin (2024)

Alambique, a stylish garden-themed restaurant situated atop an art gallery in the heart of the city, is a hidden gem worth discovering. This unique eatery offers an array of imaginative dishes and co*cktails adorned with flowers. Its terrace exudes a relaxed atmosphere and serves as a lush and enchanting oasis resembling a cozy vintage "living room" rather than a typical trendy rooftop bar.

By far my favorite restaurant in Medellin. The food was excellent and the portions were huge. The restaurant is beautiful and has lots of plants and semi hidden dining spots. It was one of the few restaurants that I visited that also had a great co*cktail list. Highly recommended.

Flawless experience! Service was outstanding. The food was inventive, delicious, fun, and the right portion sizes! We definitely over ordered because with a selection like that, how can you decide what NOT to have?! And the actual physical menu... The most beautiful menu I've ever seen!!! I really wish they sold it as I would have gladly purchased a couple of them as a keepsake and coffee table piece.

We were tourists visiting Medellin for the first time, and came to this place upon a recommendation from one of our tour guides. We showed up on a Friday night without a reservation and had to wait about one hour to be seated. It was worth the wait! We were seated on the beautiful rooftop patio. The food and drinks were all impeccable and our waiter gave excellent recommendations on what and how much to order. The only downside is that we had to wait in the restaurant and weren’t able to walk around while waiting for a table; a texting service to let us know when our table is ready would be nice.

Amazing food. Def recommend the tacos and the salad plate. Service was great too. Relatively reasonable prices. Usually a little busy so best reserve a spot in advance. but the wait isn't too bad of u just show up without one.

Hidden gem of a restaurant that provides a twist on Colombian food. Great co*cktails and food. The decor of this restaurant is quite unique and nothing like anything else I've seen in Medellin. Reservations are recommended, and most dishes are meant for sharing.

Best restaurant we found in Medellin. Should out to Diego the bartender for making us great co*cktails and convincing us to nab a table before the crowd took over that evening.Food was amazing, space was magical and everyone who worked there were intent on creating an incredible experience. Will send everyone we know here!

EDITED:I think people get drunk on the ambiance of the interior design and the dish presentation because the food isn’t breathtaking. The dishes present VERY well, but broken down, nothing I ate was wow.7/10Tomato and avocado soup.8.5/10Alambique salad: fave thing I had5/10BrisketVisit #2Although I wasn’t impressed with the brisket, on my first visit, I felt compelled to go back. And my second visit was sensational. I had something like a cheese stuffed, Wellington, wrapped pork and beef meatball. And the other dish was the skirt steak dish- which I didn’t know would be pulled steak and served with tortilla chips!I found the meatballs a little too cheesy. The skirt steak dish was amazing. Worth coming to Colombia for. incredibly savoury and delicious. Super juicy as you will see in the photos!8/10Meatballs10/10Skirt steak

Really creative food and space! Everything we ate was great and the space is stunning. It looks like a hole in the wall from outside and it right on the street but once you go in there is a hidden oasis that is decorated with so much plant life. Our server was super grumpy though and the food was very slow to come out so I'm docking a star for that.

What a phenomenal spot! The only issue you'll have with Alambique, is that if you go here at the beginning of your visit, this will be the bar with which you measure all other restaurants, leaving you sad and unfulfilled.Every detail has been considered with this place. From the STUNNING menu design and layout, to the books/reclaimed wood/mismatched plates design. It all comes together in an eclectic beauty. The staff is warm and accurate. But the food - THAT is the best part! As a vegan, I'd like a few more options, but the one I got (I Love Vegan) was amazing. The fresh flavors and expertly cooked asparagus and mushrooms were more than perfect and left me just right. The co*cktails are works of art. Literally the single best Mojito I have ever had (and I have travelled quite a bit).We plan on stopping in many more times this visit, and we think you should too. It's a WONDERFUL spot.

Great tasting food, good for big groups so you can try more plates together. Has like a speakeasy vibe because the entrance is hidden and then WOW! All of sudden you’re transported to a vintage antique shop meets jungle oasis. The house co*cktails were also creative and refreshing because they used local/exotic fruits and ingredients.

We heard a lot about this place, so we came in with high expectations. The decor and ambiance is amazing. A lot of thought was put into the presentation of the restaurant and food. The passion fruit pineapple juice was one of the best juices I’ve ever had. The banuelo apps were great. We had the steak nachos which were a huge portion and very heavy- not a complete fan. The taste was pretty average , disappointing in fact. Overall great place to eat, better to have more people in your party to share and try multiple things in the menu.

Food is really tasty. If you want to try a different experience of food you have never tried before, this is the spot. We had Manuel as a server. He did a good job (we ordered a cookie and received it burnt; he offered a solution promptly). Atmosphere and music is is nice: very casual/relax. Food would have a 5 star if it wasn’t for the burnt cookie…which I feel bad giving four stars since they replaced it quickly. Home made ice cream is a treat. Whole ordeal about the bill at the end. Could not change the bill supposedly… what a mess. Had to pay for my friend’s food. Service went from 5 star to 1.

The ambiance was good. Service was excellent. It just took longer to get your food. Drinks are tasty and they are welcoming. Would advise to reserve a table since it fills up quickly. Would have to be patient since the service takes longer to deliver food and checks. It is a bit retro style restaurant. Harder to find the restaurant since it is In a alley. Would definitely ***RECOMMEND*** for out of towners

I had the pleasure of visiting this place recently, and although the entrance might not impress you immediately, a surprising experience awaits you inside. The atmosphere is truly pleasant, with exotic and curious decor that immerses you in a unique experience. The food was a delightful surprise. The dishes were exquisite, the co*cktails were bursting with flavor, and the dessert was the perfect ending to a memorable dinner. In addition to the food, the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The staff went out of their way to make our visit special and made us feel very welcome. In summary, this place is a hidden gem that is worth discovering. Despite the initial impression at the entrance, it offers a culinary experience and an ambiance that will leave you with a smile on your face. I will definitely be back!"

An incredibly unique restaurant. Beautiful ambience made up of plants, decorative vintage items and beautiful lamps for a dimly lit atmosphere. The food was creative, fresh & flavorful ingredients. The best meal I had in Medellin. Live music available on Saturday night. I wish the co*cktails were just as good/creative as the food. Make reservations and go!

One of the COOLEST restaurants I’ve ever been to. If I can rate this higher than 5 stars I would. The decor is absolutely breath-taking with the plants and the wall art. The atmosphere is relaxing but at the same time it’s hip.All the dishes sound and look delicious. I tried the fish dish in soup and it was superb. The fish is pan seared to give it a crispy outside texture and when you eat it with the soup it softens up to a perfect balance.

Great tapas style restaurant with a unique atmosphere. The entrance is a plain door that leads you down a hallway then upstairs to what feels like a hidden restaurant. The decor has lots of greenery and small random items scattered throughout that's fun to look at, the longer you stare the more you'll find tucked away. There's both small plates to choose from and larger sharable plates as well. I've been 3 times now and ordered different things each time. I have not been disappointed yet.Great place for a date or family meal. Definitely a must try while in Medellin.

The place is super unique, and the food was simply amazing! We didn't make a reservation, but we arrived early so luckily there were spots available on the bar. It would definitely be better to make a reservation ahead of time.

This is a world-class restaurant. Unbelievable flavors in each of the four dishes we tried. Beautiful, friendly people in an extraordinary environment. They tell us there is live music Thursday and Saturday nights. Really made a great memory of our first trip to Colombia and Medellin.

📝 Fancy and pretty restaurant which isn't easy to find from the street if you don't know what you're looking for. It's highly touristic and more expensive than average but definitely worth a visit.🍴 I liked the food although didn't find it exceptional for my taste. I recommend to come here as a couple or group of people because their concept is to share dishes which are larger or anyway created in a way that makes most sense if you share. Since I visited as solo traveller, the options available to me were pretty limited.📍 It's located on one of the main roads in El Poblado but it's not super easy to spot. Inside it's much bigger than you'd think and all furniture and design are very stylish.☝🏼 They have great co*cktails, I recommend to try them out. I also recommend to reserve a table, especially if you're a bigger group.

First of all, the ambiance is lovely. Small sign outside and the door leads into a plant filled waiting area. The menu is a gorgeous hardcover book. The food is delicious and well worth the moderate price point. The portions of food are large! The service is excellent. Whether you are local or visiting, this restaurant is a must. (Make a reservation)

The reviews do all the justice and help with the decision making. They continue to keep their reputation in line with the reviews from the past. The portions are plentiful, the servers know exactly how much would be sufficient for their guests and they give you an accurate estimate of how much to offer. While the vegetarian options appear decent in number in the menu, they’re generous in quantity on the plates. Craft co*cktails made with precision. Will have to come back to experience more co*cktails and other items on the menu.

Best brisket I have ever had in my life! I could literally eat here everyday. First visit to Colombia and to this restaurant and it will not be my last. The ambience, the service, the music, the views, the food & drinks were SPECTACULAR! I could not have had a better birthday celebration! This one will be hard to top. 100 STARS ⭐️

This restaurant is whimsical and so beautiful, a perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon. The dishes are unique and colorful. The food preparation time is quite long. For two starters, one main, and one dessert between two people, we spent a full 3 hours here. I was surprised to see that reservations were necessary, but it’s understandable since the turnover is so long. Make note that some items on the English menu are in different places compared to the Spanish menu, we accidentally ordered the wrong dish because of the different placement.

Definitely one of the better restaurants we visited in town that was circulating around social media. This restaurant had a great interior and great service! The drinks were amazing and food was definitely up to par as well. Just found it a bit heavy but that being said- it’s big portions for the price !

I didn’t have a reservation but was able to get a seat at the bar. I loved the fun and quirky interior. The waitress explained the menu, as well as their ‘slow cooking’ concept. I loved the pineapple, honey, and ginger juice. I wasn’t blown away by the quinoto veggie, but all of the food looked great, so I will have to come back with friends to be able to share some dishes.

Visiting this restaurant was a hidden gem in Colombia, revealing a world of culinary delights. 🌟 Despite the modest entrance, the interior's exotic decor creates a unique dining experience. The food was a delightful surprise, with exquisite dishes, flavorful co*cktails, and a perfect carrot cake. 🍽️ The attentive and friendly service added a special touch, making us feel truly welcome. This place is a must-visit, offering an unforgettable ambiance, excellent service, and spectacular cuisine. 🎉 This placed exceeded all expectations, leaving us eager to return. Highly recommended – a culinary journey that deserves a stellar 100 stars! ⭐️

This place is a hidden gem! Walking by on the street, you would absolutely either not notice it, or you would dismiss it. Do not pass up a chance to eat at this restaurant! We couldn't make reservations online. This is likely because it is too busy. You may be able to call and make a reservation, but we just turned up. Most people seem to eat later in the evening. We got there at 6 pm, but it was basically full. We were offered a table to share with another couple and grabbed it.The restaurant spans several floors and uses a lot of plants inside to create an almost jungle like feeling in the space. It is very open, and yet it also feels very intimate. The food is absolutely incredible, pairing foods together with unique flavors to create a phenomenal dining experience. Dishes are served family style, able to feed two or more. They warn you not to over order and tell you in advance the length of preparation and cooking time to set expectations realistically. If you wait a little longer for these dishes, it is all well worth it. You will not be disappointed in the least. We ordered tomato avocado soup, which was warm and cold, separated in the bowl with soft corn nuts and various other garnishes. Delicious! We also enjoyed bacon wrapped avocado with cheese and many other flavors. Incredible! I had brisket slow cooked for 10 hours served in a skillet with baby russets and covered by a zesty tomato based sauce. I was in heaven. This was by far the best meal we had on our trip. We got lucky getting in. Don't miss out on this place if you can help it. You won't be sorry.

In short: Food: 3 stars, co*cktails and Atmosphere: 5 stars. As one of the iconic restaurants in Medellin that is mentioned in a lot of blogs and sites we decided to come and check it out. We came for lunch with no reservations and were able to get sited quickly. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a theme of lush green which carries to their menu design and food. The co*cktails were amazing with great flavors but we felt the food was very average. The dishes were beautifully designed but flavor wise they felt short. Their number one seller was the brisket that was dry and nothing outstanding.
