Department Summary

The Educator Preparation Program at UNT is committed to preparing future teachers in progressively field-based learning environments. Teacher candidate preparation culminates with the supervised clinical teaching semester in EC-12 classrooms in area public schools.

The College of Education Clinical Practice Office supports this goal through partnerships with district and schoolteachers and administrators to provide field-based preparation opportunities for both undergraduate and post baccalaureate students seeking initial teacher certification.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for gathering and analyzing data from various sources and databases, and preparing reports related to state compliance, national accreditation, and other college needs. The ability to problem solve and to interpret data requests and data sets is integral to this position. The ability to work collaboratively across UNT personnel and resources as well as outside stakeholders to collect data and to present data reports to a variety of audiences is critical. This position ensures compliance with all Texas Education Agency rules and statutes as approved by the State Board of Educator Certification.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with Texas teacher education accountability systems.
  • Strong mathematical and technical ability.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of statistical packages and relational database design and logic.
  • Advanced proficiency in Canvas and Microsoft Office including Access and Excel.
  • Proficiency in specific software and programming languages may be required.

Job Duties:

  • Creates procedures for collecting all data required by accrediting agencies and monitors data collection consistently for compliance. Maintains collaborative relationships with other staff involved in the defining, collecting, and analyzing data. Ensures that data is extracted from Watermark accurately and reliably. Informs and advises the COE concerning changes to Watermark.
  • Develops and conducts training on use of Watermark for faculty, students, and staff. Trains and supervises staff and student workers who assist with Watermark functions. Develops and maintain Watermark website.
  • Independently pursues methods to increase the efficiency of data collection, storage, retrieval, and reporting within the college of education.
  • Build forms, rubrics, and course assignments into Watermark that follow the Texas Administrative Code and responsive to programmatic needs.
  • Plans, executes, and coordinates data and documents for accreditation and compliance reporting for state and federal reports (and accreditation reports) for TEA, CAEP, SPA, TracDat, SACSCOC, and other relevant accrediting agencies.
  • Prepares annual assessment data reports for programs and collaborates with faculty in analyses of data for program improvement purposes.
  • Collaborates with ADEP to report the analysis of assessment data at regular intervals to the Assessment Committee, governance committees, and the EPAC.
  • Communicates with cooperating/mentor/host teachers and site supervisors to ensure access to Watermark and the accurate use of assessments. Communicates with Watermark regarding troubleshooting, changes to the software and the needs of the COE.
  • Maintains and disseminates requirements of the College of Education, UNT, state, and national accrediting agency requirements related to the preparation of initial and advanced certification candidates to all students, faculty, staff, and external individuals in writing and in person.
  • Attends webinars and training meetings related to compliance reporting and to enhance job-related data and research skills.
