John Hagens as school auditor for one year.

The appointment was made in closed session following a special meeting of board. Hafor part-time job the continues at $2,420. Formal appointment will be made at the next regular meeting November 17. Auditor 22 Years Hagens, who has held the post 22 years, was to be replaced according to a decision originally reached by the board. Several months ago, the board voted to replace Hagens because it felt it would be "good business practice" to change the auditor at least every seven years, A four-man committee was named at the time to interview candidates for the position.

Last month, however, the committee reported it was unable to agree on a single candidate. The report was filed and the committee dismissed. At the same meeting, the board voted to rescind its original motion to replace Hagens. A motion to retain the auditor was made by A. Shurtleff Drew but a vote on it was blocked by jections by Charles Dyer anal Louis Meringoff.

The question has been discussed since then in executive sessions. Last week, members of the board conferred with Hagens at a closed meeting. Dr. John J. Ritter, Formerly of Paterson Dr.
