Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Brenda and Harry Warnick of Baltimore, Yvonne Sweeney of Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and JoAnn Barton of Peoriz, seven grandchildren; eleven greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews. SAUNDERS, Ethel Lorene, 81, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Bedford County, she moved to Roanoke at a young age.

She was a long time member of First Church of the Brethren and retired from Gill Memorial Hospital after 25 years of service. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, John and Arabella Saunders, seven brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two sisters, Virginia Harris Roanoke, Frances Chamberlain of WinstonSalem, N. numerous nieces and nephews. Ethel will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

RICHARDSON, James Rufus, 89, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, December 21. 1999. He was born in Cloverdale, Botetourt County, on May 22, 1910, the son of James C. and Adra Pobst Richardson. He was the retired owner of Blue Ridge Gardens Nursery and the Pancake Houses on Apperson Drive and Williamson Road.

He was a member of the First Church, Christ Scientist, Roanoke. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor "Billie" Evans Richardson; a daughter, Evans Evans Frankenheimer, Beverly Hills, two granddaughters, Elise Frankenheimer Riggs of Lafayette, Calif. and Kristi Frankenheimer Davis of Bayfield Colo. and Los Angeles, two sisters, Lenora Richardson and Lucille R. McMillan, both of Poquoson, and one brother, Frank Richardson, Lynchburg.

Born in Austinville (Bethany), on September 6, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred B. Dunford, two sisters, Edith Hall and Bertha Graham, a daughter, Donna, grandson, Sean Keating. Mrs. Dunford was a devout Christian and for most of her life attended the Nazarene Church in Pulaski.

She was a very sweet, loving and delightful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to play the piano and violin and to sing. Her primary interests and talents since childhood were drawing and painting. Her art was a reflection of her personality, intelligence and religious faith. Mrs.

Dunford was a graduate of Radford College and taught school for a short time in Wythe County. She touched all who knew her in a a a a a a a a way that influenced them to live a Christ-like life, full of love and joy. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Terrence (Jean) Keating of Wilmington, N. Rebecca Myers of Salem, Judy Shrader of Snowville; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Nancy Dunford of Dublin; six grandchildren, Farron Lowry of Roanoke, Randy Chinault of Pulaski, Tony Dunford of Brookville, Charles (Chuck) Owens of Pulaski, Carmen Dunford of Radford, Jennifer Foutz of Pulaski; great-granddaughter, Mariah Lowry of Roanoke.

Mrs. Thacker was born in Giles County on November 4, 1930 and was a daughter of the late Charles and Grace Albert Stump. She was a member of Eggleston United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Thacker, a son, Glen Thacker and three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Connie McCoy of Eggleston; one brother, Johnny Stump, Eggleston; four sisters, Phyllis Gusler, Pearisburg, Peggy French, Donnie Mann, both of Vinton, Susie Sadler, Pembroke.
